Privacy Policy
Our commitment
Apprika ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through apprika.ca and our services, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
What we collect
- Information you give us: your name, email address, company, phone number and the details of your project when you email us, book a call or contact us.
- Booking details: if you book a call through Calendly, Calendly collects your name, email and any answers you provide, and shares them with us.
- Business records: if we work together, we hold the contracts, invoices, project files and correspondence needed to deliver and bill for the work.
- Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider processes your IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps in server logs for security and to deliver the site.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not sell personal information.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiries and schedule calls.
- To scope, deliver, support and invoice work for clients.
- To secure and maintain our website and systems and prevent abuse.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To send you information about our services only if you ask for it or have agreed to receive it, and you can opt out at any time.
Cookies, local storage and analytics
We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The site may store a small preference in your browser (for example, a display setting) that stays on your device. If we add analytics in the future we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, under appropriate safeguards, and only as needed. These include Cloudflare (website hosting and delivery), Google (Workspace email and storage, and Google Fonts), and Calendly (scheduling). We may also disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our rights. We do not share your information for third-party advertising.
Where information is stored
Some of our providers store or process information outside of Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those places, including access by their authorities. We choose providers that offer contractual and technical safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to a project are normally deleted within a reasonable period. Client records are kept for as long as the relationship lasts and for the period required for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious harm, we will notify the people affected and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to withdraw your consent, or to delete it where the law allows. Where applicable you may also ask for your information in a structured, commonly used format. To make a request, email hello@apprika.ca. We will respond within the time required by law, and we may need to verify your identity first.
If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for residents of Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Privacy contact
Our person responsible for the protection of personal information can be reached at hello@apprika.ca. Please put "Privacy" in the subject line.
